CAS Names Dana Kennedy as New Product Manager for Accsense

Cost-Effective Wireless Solutions for Temperature, Humidity, and More
CHESTERLAND OH—January 5, 2012

CAS DataLoggers is proud to name Dana Kennedy as its new Product Manager for Accsense, continuing an ongoing commitment to provide customers with low-cost wireless solutions for all their critical applications. Dana has extensive familiarity and enthusiasm for the Accsense product line and brings his many years of experience in manufacturing and marketing industrial solutions to help customers find exactly the right datalogger for their needs. Dana is always onhand by phone or the website to listen to customers’ applications and to find the best solution.

Accsense data logging systems provide wireless or wired monitoring using internal and external sensors to measure vital parameters such as temperature, humidity, voltage, current, light and vibration. Easy to install and setup, Accsense systems allow users to monitor and log readings with the ability to view data in real-time and automatically send data to the manufacturer’s secure server for storage. Using a standard web browser, users can sign in to retrieve reports and graphs or modify the system configuration from anywhere an internet connection is available. These monitoring systems also offer sophisticated alarm capabilities including sending email, pager or phone alerts whenever an alarm goes off. Accsense fully complies with FDA, JCAHO AABB, and other industry standards. Dana explains, “In the healthcare industry, patient privacy issues including HIPAA are often a problem when considering installation of other wireless systems, but Accsense entirely eliminates this risk with its secure data encryption. We’re as non-intrusive as possible to our customers’ existing infrastructures.”

Dana is hard at work meeting the increased demand for wireless monitoring in a wide variety of fields where customers want a hassle-free solution for their compliance regulations problems (such as 21 CFR), and Accsense systems are their most affordable and reliable choice. CAS also provides solutions across the life sciences field in general, including biomedical, drug research, and vaccine storage in immunization clinics. Dana comments, “We’re currently focused on matching the capability of our wireless Accsense system to the market’s needs. Many of our customers have a few freezers or fridges they need to monitor wirelessly, and the Accsense system is an extremely cost-effective buy for them. Accsense is the least expensive way to get into wireless monitoring at this advanced level of functionality.”

Dana has also gathered extensive feedback from customers who found their Accsense systems to be practically turn-key, especially installation and setup. Users confirm that there’s no need to get IT involved, no software to install, and no server to maintain, since the load on a company network is minimal. Dana paraphrases their experiences: “Other systems on the market require servers and space on those servers, and rely on additional hardware set to run constantly, while Accsense doesn’t need anything but an Internet connection!” Additionally, transactions made on data transfers within the system are completely safe, using the same encryption used by major credit card companies: there’s zero risk in terms of data security.

Wireless Monitoring For Meat and Poultry Cold Chains

To Meet Critical Regulations , Guessing Has to Go!
CHESTERLAND OH—January 3, 2012

Every worker in the Meat and Poultry industry recognizes the need to meet FDA compliance in the processing and storage stages of their products to guarantee safety and vendor reputation. Now CAS DataLoggers has partnered with trusted manufacturer Accsense to supply an affordable wireless solution for meat processors by offering the Accsense A1-13 Wireless Temperature Data Logger, a convenient and cost-effective device for automated cold-chain temperature monitoring. Paired with the Accsense B1-06 Wireless Data Logger Gateway, these pods form a complete wireless monitoring system which sends all recorded temperature data online for easy storage and analysis, empowering personnel to easily access all the data from one source and further ensuring the meat products under monitoring. The system requires an RJ45 Ethernet connection with open internet access—and that’s all! The Accsense system is easy to setup and entirely eliminates the need for expensive training. The economic advantage is considerable: compared to having to take manual recordings of the temperature, automated monitoring is much less expensive, more dependable, and offers more data storage and documentation for future reference. This new wireless solution combines superior data logging reliability and accuracy with customizable alarm settings to maintain meat and poultry cold chains all the way from ‘farm to fork’.

Operating on battery or AC power, each Accsense sensor pod features an internal ambient temperature sensor that detects a wide temperature range of -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to 158°F) with an accuracy of ±1.4°C at 25°C. The A1-13 pod is specifically designed to connect to three RTD sensor inputs, allowing an increase in the amount of sensors per pod and reducing the cost per measurement. Each pod also features two digital inputs and can be connected to a broad range of digital sensors. Diagnostic LEDs give users clear indication of power, wireless status, and more. Each pod’s memory can store up to 32,000 samples with a user-settable sampling frequency anywhere from every 30 seconds to every 24 hrs.

Forming the connection between the user’s data and the internet, the wireless gateway features built-in 10/100BaseT Ethernet and supports up to 16 temperature sensor pods. The Accsense wireless system ranges out to 250 feet unobstructed and 90’ indoors, and its 1900-point sample buffer automatically backs up the data in case of emergencies.

FREE software and feature upgrades are included with the wireless gateway, with no software installation or firewall configuration needed. Users work with a customizable interface with dashboards of the most recent measurements from all sensor pods. Manual vertical scaling allows for consistency across multiple graphs and samples, and users get instant access to charts depicting measurement history with ranges as narrow as 5 minutes or as wide as 90 days. Measurement data can also be downloaded for offline analysis, and users can allow password-protected, limited access to certain users.

All of the measurements acquired using the Accsense solution are immediately available on a completely secure online Accsense Account, backed up at the manufacturer’s Rackspace™ servers. Data can also be sent as a local ASCII stream, either of which the user can incorporate into custom software including LabView. Each gateway requires an online account subscription. With measurements updated in real-time, users can plot measurement history, analyze tabular data, and set alarms to watch their data. The secure servers can also send out voice, text or email alerts (with premium subscription) to inform the supplier and authorized staff when a temperature reading falls out of range. The same alarm can even be sent to multiple locations! Additionally, data sent online can be downloaded as a CSV file and loaded into most database applications. The gateway’s internal data storage can even compensate in the event of Internet outages.

Optional accessories for the A1-13 temperature pod include an external battery pack allowing extended monitoring up to 2-3 years, a temperature RTD probe with an external sensor measuring -100°C to +100°C (-148°F to 212°F), and an ambient temperature RTD probe measuring from 0 to 100°C (32°F to 212°F).
